Five Winter Wonders in Winnipeg

  1. AssiniboineParkThe Assiniboine Park duck pond is a long-time favourite for families to strap on their skates for an afternoon of gliding about. Washrooms are located onsite and the warming shelter is ideal for sharing a cup of cocoa.
  2. FortWhyte Alive offers several trails for hiking, cross country skiing or snowshoeing, and don’t forget to bring your toboggan to race down the Richardson Run. It’s a screaming good time.
  3. The Forks is always a great locale for enjoying the outdoors with the convenience of indoor shopping and restaurants nearby. Fun times are had by all at the Arctic Glacier Winter Park which is festively lit in the evenings for your enjoyment. Filled with fun activities to investigate such as the snowboard fun park, toboggan run, Great-West Life Interactive Ice Castle, 1.2 km of trails and, of course, lots of skating! Skate under the canopy at the Forks, on the Olympic-sized skating rink located adjacent to Scotiabank Stage or down The Forks River trail. Skate rentals are available.
  4. Many of our local parks are filled with excellent cross-country skiing trails. Check out Kildonan, St. Vital and La Barrière park as well as the Windsor Park Nordic Centre.
  5. Ok, so technically this one is out of the city, but just. Adrenaline Adventures offers a slew of outdoor activities from snow tubing and snowboarding, to Xorbing. You’ve got to try it!
