Live like a tourist in your own town. Spend time at the Inn at the Forks for a Winnipeg staycation, and treat yourself to dinner or lunch at Smith. My visit with three friends began with a bottle of 14 Hands Merlot. Our waiter was very accommodating and gave us lots of time to place our orders.
The four of us were on the same page when it came time to place our orders. We ordered a platter made up of their classic buttermilk fried chicken, the salmon special with a seared pineapple salsa and a number of sides including the truffle oil and asiago French fries, Brussel sprouts with maple syrup and pecans, and the root vegetable and yam gratin. Being good friends, we all shared from a communal plate.
The conversation comfortably flowed as we nibbled on little tastes of each dish over the course of the evening. Before departing we decided to share the delightful lemon tarts to cap off our evening.
