The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 located in Halifax was an immigrant entry point prominent throughout the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. It has memorialized those who immigrated to Canada in search of a new life. Many families across Canada can trace their roots to this historic place where the names of their forefathers can be commemorated on permanent display plaques. Pier 21 was opened to the public as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1999 and is the only national museum in the Atlantic Provinces.
